Celebrate Yourself

Today is my birthday

While I originally had plans for the grand party you're told you're supposed to have, I opted out this year. Don't get me wrong. I usually use my relationships as extortion with my friends so that they dress up in whatever theme I pick each year (love them); but this year felt different. I didn't want to obsess over any details or coordinate colors and frantically send out reminder text messages of venue location. I just wanted to be still

I know that 2016 was the year of realizing things & 2017 is about the execution, but because I have so many mixed feelings of this milestone age, cough: thirty, I wanted to spend time reflecting and processing alone.  I owed it to myself and so do you to practice being still; I think the act alone is a radical celebration of self.

Celebrating yourself, no matter on your birthday or a random Tuesday at Baskin Robbins for a double scoop is the ultimate form of self-care. What ever your choose, let it be all about you. 

Positive Distraction of the Week:

Join me in celebrating yourself this week. Throw your own party and dance to your own song. It can even be a pity party- just don't stay at that one too long.
